Introducing
Gaston our purebred Percheron.
Gaston is by the French bred Trappeur who was imported first
to England, and later to Australia where he has been a Champion
in all countries.
Percherons are a French draft horse that are known as the
clean legged draft horse as they have little or no hair (feather)
on their legs.
They have a bigger, longer stride than their clydesdale counterparts,
but have all the draft qualities, temperment, trainability
and excellent work ethic.
Gaston is expected to mature at around 17hh and will be grey.
He has been broken to saddle and harness and possesses all
the qualities needed to be a great sire. With 100% in foal
in his first serving season we are eagerly awaiting the arrival
of his first crop in Spring 2006. He is a perfect type to
cross over thoroughbred mares to bred the ultimate sporthorse,
or over a heavier type to bred working and hunter type horses.
Gaston has huge, ground covering paces and has an impecable
temperament. He has had one outing at the North Island All
Breeds to take second to his full brother Cobigan Tobias,
who has 4 years age on him. His brother went on to be Grand
Champion Heavy Horse and we expect Gaston to mature into a
very similar type.
Due to Gaston being a working stallion his semen is available
AI only. Visitors are welcome to view him at Carriage House
Farm, 263 Ara Kotinga, Whitford, Auckland. His current service
fee is $700.
2006 foals by Gaston out of thoroughbred and draft mares will
be for sale at weaning.
